One of the greatest golfers of our generation was lost to brain cancer earlier this month and will sorely be missed. I can remember watching him on TV with my Dad as a kid and thinking not only about what a great player he was, but also how he bore a not-so-subtle resemblance to my late father. Seve - you inspired millions of people and courageously battled your disease like a true champion.

BKBTF 5K a huge success!

Thanks again to all of you who helped make the Inaugural BKBTF 5K Fun Run/Walk a rousing success. On Saturday we had over 100 participants on a gorgeous morning at Folsom Lake State Park - all in all it was a day that couldn’t have been better. We have raised over $50K to date and are still receiving donations as we speak. Please visit www.brucekayefoundation.org or www.firstgiving.com/bkbtf if you would like to lend your support and help us reach our pre-race goal of $60K. Any amount you can give really makes a difference! We are overcome by the generosity we have seen thus far and look forward to using these all important contributions to fund the work that we do in the weeks and months to come.

The highlight of the day was having two brain tumor patients share their experiences about the benefits of a holistic approach to treatment. These two individuals are thriving in the face of a challenging diagnosis and are the very reason why we felt compelled to create the Bruce Kaye Brain Tumor Foundation in the first place. As the old African proverb says, “The pillar of the world is hope.”

From this site you can donate to the event, register to participate, create a team, create a fundraising page, etc. We are very excited about hosting our first 5K this year and encourage you to get involved.

Save the date for the BKBTF Inaugural 5K Fun Run/Walk on November 7, 2009 at Folsom Lake State Park in Granite Bay. Planning is well underway and we will be passing along information on how to participate as well as sponsorship and volunteer opportunities that are available. Get your friends and family together and come help us further our mission of changing the outlook of brain cancer.
